An Eye Opener
I ordered this book because I like Rashmi Bansal's work, and I have a dream jst proved me right all over again. When I started reading I could feel the power of a man rising above the system, but I was thinking will Ms Bansal be able to carry the same motivation, enthusiasm till the last page, but this time she proved me wrong. I can go to the extent by saying that this is one of the best books I have read and I will always hold it close to my heart, because this book has introduced me to so many people I did not know about who are trying to clean the dirt around me, trying to make it a better place by giving up so much in their life.
Hats off to all the people who have motivated me to do something somewhere down the line, and a special thank you to Ms Bansal for telling us their story of faith, hope, struggle, good cause etc.
Would pay a thousand bucks to read this book, hundred's too less!!!
Good Report, Bad Book
I bought this book online a few days ago and I have to say,I really believed it was going to be a great read. Unfortunately though, my expectations were shunned and the book failed at so many places.
I was really shocked to see how little the author has to say, apart from the often used "...the year was.." or the occasional description of the subject's reaction, or the deliberate mention of her hearing things from the subjects, there isn't really anything that feels like its coming from the author's pen.
The author could've just gone and made a Blog post out of this, would've cost less and not to mention saved a lot of trees.
There were so many instances when I just wanted to close the book but I decided to respect a best selling author of the nation and go through with it. I'm really trying hard to be polite but the only things I found useful were a couple of one liners and the last two pages.
I still believe Rashmi's intent is good and she means to do more than just sell stories, But one things certain, she needs to stop interviewing and start real writing.
Rashmi - A truth teller
whenever something new comes from Rashmi - i just have one thing to say -- this will be story of a common man's rise to sky, his or her true experiences and at last some points to think and consider for life.
The journey of a common man to fame, not the tycoon one is covered in her books that is what make me to think and act..
Excellent Novel
Though I have not yet completed this book, but I must say that I loved reading it so far. The stories are indeed inspirational and written in a very lucid, easy to comprehend manner. Its really heartening to hear about the backgrounds of social entrepreneurs who have committed their lives for a cause, whereas majority of the middle class in India just prefer to look away and go on with their lives. Indeed a high recommended book for everyone.
Very Stereotype
I think it's high Rashmi Bansal , changes her style and context of her book
Stay Hungry & Stay foolish was fantastic to read a book first of its kind, but Connect the Dots was still fair, but I have a Dream is just a repetition of monotonous stuff.
It's like taking a movie's various sequels 2,3, 4 etc, just because first became a hit and trying to imbibe the same masala which end up gradually deprecates in reader's acceptance as there is nothing new , get monotonous, very predictable and boring.
For each of the 20 stories in I have a Dream, After reading the first 2 pages of Summary, I didn't have any further motivation or enthusiasm persisting to read further as it gets very predictable and Stereotype
Many thik, few act.
Rashmi Bansal this time digs out the social think-tanks who groomed their thoughts with the actions. Inspires you to create your own destiny and lets you know that the resources are never short.
Author gets carried away with some of these personalities. At times, the book gets monotonous. So continuous reading is a difficult task.
MUST buy for entrepreneurs.
Striking!!!!...
Will make you to think what have you done to this society!!!
This book has definitely made me think--- why are we looking towards the west for every answer, when we have the full capability to fight and design a solution????..People have done it in past!!!It is a shame on us that we don't recognize the kind of work we Indians are doing remaining in the country itself..How many of us are actually investing our time to do something for the society???the number is very less!!!..Though we are topping the list in population explosion!!
This book has brought how a simple idea can change your whole life, which can totally change the way of thinking and perceiving things in society.
Pros:
- had a photo before a story begins, which satisfied the anxiety that happens if we read through and does not know who that person is.
- covered various fields and not just related to business
- has stories for the utilities which were used by us at some or the other point but we have never thought how did it came into existence. For Example : Sulabh International!!
Cons:
I did not find any..Still Reading!!!
I think this is a must read for everyone!! I will not say it is inspiring..but striking....
